The other day I arrived for training feeling beat, run down, sore and sluggish...I did not want to train and sure as shit didn't want to teach.
However, I remembered what Wallace Wattles said is his book, The Science of Getting Rich
"Gratitude is what keeps you connected to power."
I decided to keep my focus on having a good class. You know what happened? I got a great workout, my maladies went away and my focus shifted from bitching to giving my students a great experience.
How does that relate to self defense?
Be grateful for everything you have in your life-your health, your family and friends, your ability to train at all, etc...and keep that in mind while you train. I guarantee you your sessions will become much more productive. Simple, direct and effective is the order of the day when it comes to protecting yourself and your loved ones.
